At lunch time today I was cruising around my Facebook account denying people’s farmville requests and a noticed a classic Sex Sells type of Facebook ad.

Time to dissect this ad and why it is great!

    1. The headline is extremely simple and relevant. “Attention” grabs my attention and “SEO” is a industry term that I know.

    Sexy Face Book Ad

    2. The advertisement copy creates a sense of urgency and a feeling that I better get this before anyone else does: “Limited to only 1 App Per City.” It also creates a feeling exclusivity because I am able “Lock out the others.”

    Great ad copy

    3. The hot chick is looking at me! What it gets my attention. Eyeballs attract eyeballs! Here is a free tip: Increase your form fill conversion rate by placing an image near your form of people staring in that direction.

    sexy facebook ad

****Do not read any further if you can not handle adult language**** This means you Dan.

    4. Back to the hot chick. What Im a guy. It looks like she is about to suck on a dick. Call me vulgar, but this image sends a huge sexual cue to men. I mean really what the fuck is she holding in her hand that look like a penis? Why is her mouth open and he tongue pressing against her cheek? Bottom line this send a sexual cue to me and some select females. Sex gets people’s attention!

    sex sells

Now you see these ads all over the internet and I know they work. So ladies and gentleman there is a reason why prostitution is worlds oldest profession cause it sells!

    1. I agree and disagree at the same time. Sex sells, yes, but selling via sexual content is a cop-out. I assure you if you are writing effective ads, you will find a nominal delta between ads with chicks and without. Here is an example of that:

Note that the ad with the chick certainly has a higher CTR, but it’s nominal for that size sample set. Why? Because the ad was relatively effective and the target was bi-gendered (not cross or trans gendered).

    2. great fucken point…if they would only let me use this tactic for a search engine results page
