I never knew this, but you can setup GEO specific area of subfolders in Google Webmaster Tools. So, if you had built out state pages or city pages for your main keywords you can now tell Google to associate that page if you build in its individual subfolder with a Geo location!

In order for this to work you must create each page as a subfolder!

    For example,

I have a mortgage website that offers service nationally. So I have state and city specific pages.

    www.example.com/San-Diego-Mortgages

    www.example.com/California-Mortgages

I can now target these specific pages for their geo location.

Might be pain in the ass setting it all up in Google Webmaster Tools, but the reward should be worth it!

This video explains it more at 4:25 min.

    1. So, what do you think about a site hosted in the US for example, with a regular .com extension that’s targeted at the Brazilian web? If I were to create the proper subdomains, or subfolders, and use the webmaster tools at the same time, do you think I would have the same level of exposure as a site that’s hosted in Brazil, and has a .com.br extension?

    2. It would help tremendously!, but I do not think it would be exactly the same as if the site was hosting in brazil and has .br domain.

The only way to tell for sure is to test!
