[...] Anyway, it looks like teachers are fighting back. I’m assuming “MLA” is the Modern Language Association. Maybe I should look it up on Wikipedia. [...]

Well, maybe that teacher needs to get with the times. When I was in Junior High this would have been the case. Information online up the the 21st century was unreliable. However, as a graduate student studying to become a doctor, I have had many professors tell their students that Wikipedia is considered one of the best online sources for medical and scientific knowledge. According to The Lancet (http://www.thelancet.com/about) Wiki’s are becoming a great tool for the medical community (http://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473309906704595/fulltext).

There is even a http://www.fluwikie.com/ which even state in their About page “No one, in any health department or government agency, knows all the things needed to cope with an influenza pandemic. But it is likely someone knows something about some aspect of each of them and if we can pool and share our knowledge we can advance preparation for and the ability to cope with events.”

In short, while everything on wikipedia may not be exact, when the scientific community (most exact profession) finds value in wikipedia and wiki’s, I take that as an okay source for a paper.
