Screw Optimizing for #1 - Optimize for A B or C!

January 30th, 2007 by imnotadoctor

Holy crap! Today Google launched local quick results:

http://www.google.com/search?q=la+jolla+hotel
google local

This is great for the local search community, but how the hell do they determine who gets ranked A B or C?

Some people over at threadwatch are saying the pull the information from yell. I think that is only for the UK and I am not sure that is what actually determines the ranking. I have asked Google maps group this questions and still no answer.

This will have a major impact for local SERPs. Screw optimizing for #1 it is all about optimizing for spot A B or C. So how the hell do I do that?

Unfortunately there are no rankings when it comes to A, B, and C (Damn it!!!) Every list I have ever seen has been alphabetical (maybe you can prove me wrong).

Now where they pull them from is the question… If they pull them from yellowbook.com or something similar, then I would recommend making up a hotel that starts with A, and forward the link to your site!!!!
